A Pig's Tale: Hog Named 6-7 Spared by Miami-Dade Mayor.
It might not have been at the identical stature as pardoning Thanksgiving turkeys, but the mayor of Miami-Dade experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.
“The swine has done no wrong. She is worthy of this pardon. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of pardons issued from the start of the onset of a second term in office.
“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a prosperous future without fear.”
This ceremony, which both honors and questions the region’s Hispanic tradition of consuming swine during the holidays, was created to mirror the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.
The animal, provided by a local firefighter, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people shouting “six seven” – inspired by a musical verse – often seemingly at random. The trend became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently declared “six-seven” its top term for the year.
A Future Secured
The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the event’s official press release.
“The pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to begin the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.
“It captures the character of Miami: joyful, diverse, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Every time, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.”
Participants enjoyed a plant-based fare of croquettes and cafecito as they celebrated Six Seven’s big moment.
